What is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician or CCSP®?
Press Release, December 12, 2011, San Diego, CA:
A Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician®, or CCSP®, is an internationally recognized Sports Medicine Specialist. The CCSP® title is awarded to physicians who successfully complete postgraduate level training in diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries, emergency procedures (CPR/AED/Life Support), athletic training and conditioning, and injury prevention. Doctors must then pass a comprehensive National Board Examination conducted by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians™ (ACBSP™*), which is certified by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) in order to receive the Sports Medicine Specialist designation of CCSP®.
With their specialized training and skills, sports physicians with the CCSP® title are certified to care for athletes with a higher standard of care in amateur, scholastic and elite professional and Olympic sports on State, National and International levels. CCSP’s® are authorized to function as team physicians and are required by the USOC (United States Olympic Committee) to carry and maintain this specialty designation in order to treat members of the US Olympic Teams at the Olympic Training Centers, during national and international games, and most notably, at the Olympic Games.
Dr. Bruce Bell has successfully completed his CCSP® training under the direction and training of Dr. William Moreau, D.C., DACBSP®, C.S.C.S., F.I.C.C.. Dr. Moreau is the Director of Sports Medicine Clinics for the United States Olympic Committee where he leads the multiple disciplinary sports medicine teams at all three Olympic Training Centers in Colorado Springs, CO, Lake Placid, NY, and Chula Vista, CA, Dr. Bell’s hometown. Additionally, Dr. Bell has also recently passed the ACBSP™ National Board Examination, and is now honored to carry the designation of CCSP® with over 4800 Sports Doctors worldwide, as a Board Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner!
“I feel humbled and honored to join the ranks of CCSP’s® around the world, after having received such an outstanding education in sports injuries, emergency procedures, and team physician concepts with Dr. Moreau and his colleagues.
