With the coming of the new year we are all given that opportunity for a fresh start, a new beginning. It's truly an opportunity to get excited about making some improvements and experiencing positive change in our lives. One of the top priorities for many is to improve our health and the way we feel in these bodies of ours! The best way to make those positive changes happen is to set some health and fitness goals, and then just get to 'em!
So, to inspire us all, (myself included) here are 5 helpful tips on setting those health and fitness goals for 2010:
1] Start With The End In Sight! Clearly Define, In Measurable Terms, What You Want To Achieve. ie. Slimmer, Stronger, Lighter, Better Muscle Tone, More Rest, etc.
2] Put A Time Or Date On It. If it's daily, weekly, monthly, or for the end of the year, defining the timing will make it more achievable and believable.
3] Make It Reasonable. If it's too big, too difficult, or just plain unrealistic, you may de-motivate yourself before even trying. Making it believable and achievable will keep you motivated and on target. You can always increase the size or challenge of the goal after achieving the first target.
4] List The Reasons For The Goal. Famous motivator and philosopher, Jim Rohn, always emphasized listing the REASONS for achieving any goal as being the "fuel" that drives us to their fulfillment. Going over the "why" regularly will keep us motivated and fresh with the discipline that any worthy or challenging goal achievement requires. Create a "mental picture" of all of the benefits you'll gain from the achievement and see it all in your mind's eye.
5] Create Your Plan Of Action With Smaller Sub-Goals. If necessary, break the main goal into smaller steps or "sub-goals" to keep you motivated and on target, "one step at a time". Make these steps measurable, and perhaps give yourself a small reward for achieving them to keep it interesting and fun.
With these 5 simple steps to setting and achieving your health and fitness goals you are on your way to being and healthier you! The only thing that you need to do now is to grab a pen and some paper and start with the 1st step of listing your goals, clearly defined, end in sight! From there, you've got 4 more steps to list and you are practically there! Half of the battle it seems, is just getting started.
Once you've started with the all important steps listed above, recognize that you have just put into motion one of the greatest laws of success and achievement known to humanity; The Law Of Faith, Attraction, Creative Thought, or whatever you want to call it. The bottom line is that IT WORKS! Anything we want to have, be, or do starts with a thought, or a goal of our choosing.
So, choose well by choosing to be well this year and beyond. Make 2010 your healthiest, happiest, and best year ever by choosing to improve your health. Who knows . . . improving your health and the way you feel will probably inspire you to set some new goals in the areas of finance, relationships, travel or personal development.
